Autonomy from anatomy: why Ground_Truth™ exists.
Every system that has ever asked who are you has answered it the same way: take a copy of the body and keep it somewhere. We think that was the mistake.
Ground_Truth™ is trusted data about a person, built on proof of who they are. It exists to answer one question: is this really the person? Every way of proving identity before it worked by taking something from the body and storing it somewhere else - a face, a fingerprint, an iris. Anything stored can be copied, and today it can be manufactured. Ground_Truth™ was built the other way around. A smart insole, made by Bio_Sole, reads the way you walk, keeps that knowledge inside your own shoe, and tells the world only yes or no. This page explains where the idea came from and what we decided never to do.
A quiet room, and one hard question.
Ground_Truth™ exists to prove who a person is without anybody ever holding a copy of them. The story of why starts years before the first insole.
Some years ago our founder was at the Pentagon with his friend and mentor, Major General William R. Usher of the United States Air Force. That weekend, attackers had entered a provincial headquarters in Karbala by making themselves indistinguishable from a legitimate American convoy. The vehicles matched. The uniforms matched. The weapons, the radios and the language all matched. Five soldiers were killed.
The room was quiet when they sat down. General Usher asked one question.
They died because a system that should have known could not tell the difference. Who are you? That is the question Ground_Truth™ was built to answer, and it is why any of this exists.
Trusted data, anchored to a person.
Ground_Truth™ is trusted data, and it is trusted for one reason: it is anchored to a person who has been verified. The order is what makes it worth anything, and it never varies. An observation about nobody in particular is not worth having, and a system that cannot say whose data it holds cannot be trusted with any of it.
Everything begins with identity.
The person verifies themselves first. Nothing else activates until they do.

Each of them left the body.
Identity has a lineage, and it is a distinguished one. Every answer in it was right for the threats of its time, and every one ran into the same wall.
Bertillon measured the body. Galton read the fingerprint. Bledsoe taught machines the human face. Daugman found the iris.
Every one of those factors leaves the body. It can be seen. And what can be seen can be manufactured. Software can now generate a face, reconstruct a fingerprint, clone a voice and synthesize an iris. Worse, a compromised biometric is permanent: nobody gets a new face, a new iris or a new fingerprint.
So we asked a different question. What if the body authenticated itself, and what left it was not the signal but only proof that the signal was real?
A walk is a signature written by the whole body.
A smart insole slips into an ordinary shoe and reads how a person stands, bears weight and moves. That signature holds what a camera can see alongside what only the body knows. It cannot be photographed, lifted from a glass or replayed by software, because it is never stored as an image of anyone, anywhere.
Recognition happens on the device
Inside the chip, in the shoe you are standing in. There is no biometric database to breach, because there is no biometric database.
A proof token is all that crosses
When a door or a system asks who is there, it receives a single-use, time-stamped statement that a person has been verified, carrying nothing about their body. Yes or no. We call this Known, Not Shown.
The person is always the origin
The sequence is deliberate. The person verifies themselves first, and nothing else activates until they do. The individual is the origin; the system is the responder.
The credential is the person.
The architecture is not a diagram in a deck. It runs in our own facility, live: access, attendance and zone management, with no badges and nothing to pass hand to hand, because the credential is the person. We wanted to live inside the thing before we asked anybody else to.
Nothing to hand over
A borrowed credential stops working the moment somebody else walks in it. That is not a policy we enforce; it is a property of what is being checked.
Built for a conclusion before it was required
Regulation across the world keeps moving toward one conclusion - that people should not have to surrender copies of their bodies to be recognized. We built for that conclusion before it was asked of us. At the time it looked premature.
Known, not shown.
The same walk that proves who you are also carries general insight into how you are, day to day, as observations rather than diagnoses. That insight belongs to the person and stays theirs, shared only if they choose to share it and withdrawn whenever they like. We keep this note quiet on purpose: identity is the foundation, and everything built on it waits its turn.

Todd Gray is the founder, chief executive and principal inventor behind Ground_Truth™, and of Bio_Sole International Group, the platform that produces it. He has spent the years since that conversation at the Pentagon building the answer to it. His private motto for the work is a Latin one, and it is the only flourish on this page: I shall either find a way or make one.

Our insoles are manufactured in the United States by Atlantic Footcare, a Bio_Sole subsidiary. The infrastructure is hosted in Canada, the United States, and other applicable jurisdictions, subject to relevant data sovereignty requirements.
